Friday Fast for the month of January
Wayman is fasting on Fridays from sun up to sundown to deepen our prayer for the softening of hearts and the unity of all people. Join us in choosing something to give up on Friday's that can serve as a reminder to pray and commune with God as we pray for our world and our beloved community. Whether it is food (if health allows), tv, social media, or anything else, let it be something that feels like a sacrifice. When you feel the sting or craving, let that be your call to prayer. 

Prayer focus for Friday January 9th:
Hebrews 3:12-15
12 Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partners of Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end. 15 As it is said,
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

Prayer: Lord, we pray for the softening of hearts, and the return of love and care for our neighbors. at a time when it seems hearts are hardening, moving to talking points rather than sadness at the unnecessary loss of life, let us remember to follow what Christ taught us. To love our neighbor as ourselves. Lord we pray for a return to softer hearts, to greater care and concern for one another, for your spirit to pour out and entreat us to lay down our arms, to cease our hostilities, and to better respect your wonderful creation. Amen.
